From Mismi’s ice-coated slopes high in the barren Altiplano it will be 6275 km before the Amazon reaches the Atlantic Ocean in a huge delta several hundred kilometres across. Huge volumes of glacial meltwater flowing between the vastness of Andean peaks create a landscape of monumental canyons and gorges, and present an opportunity to enjoy some of the world’s finest white water rafting.
