The reserve has a high diversity of flora and fauna, as well as a wealth of aquatic life. So far there have been 443 species of birds, 97 mammals, 55 amphibians, 259 fish and 1039 species of plants!
The reserve has a tropical forests climate that is rather hot and humid. Temperatures often exceed
34 ° C.
