Peruvian world acclaimed tenor, Juan Diego Flórez, will sing in Machu Picchu next April 2011, reported various news sources.
The announcement was made by Minister of Culture, Juan Ossio, who explained Flórez will sing as part of the official celebrations of the hundred anniversary of the scientific discovery of the Inca site in 1911.
The presentation, which has not yet been specified where exactly it will take place, will be limited for local and international press, in order to promote the archaeological site, explained Ossio.
“The purpose is to bring foreign press and, through them, promote Machu Picchu as the world cultural heritage site and marvel of the modern world it is,” said the minister according to Andina news service.
Ossio did not discard the assistance of other national or international artists during the centennial celebrations.
Juna Diego Flórez will sing on 8 April according to Cusco’s Culture Regional Director, Juan Julio García.
