TREKKING IN THE COLCA CANYON 3 DAYS

FIRST DAY

We will begin Thies adventure by picking up passengers from their hotels at 06:00am, in our private car to Cabanaconde ( approx. 5 hours). Here we will have lunch in a turistic restaurant. Then we will begin our walk and arrive at the Pampa San Miguel where we will have an impressive view of the fabulous Colca Canyon. Then we will descend and after three and a half hours walking we will arrive at the first community of San Juan de Chuccho (2200m), descending approximately 1357m to the River Colca. We will explore the surroundings and then carry on walking an hour and a half more to the next community of Cosñirhua (2450m).here we can enjoy our free time and shower with water naturally heated by the sun, as this place does not electricity. Here we can rest, have dinner and spend our first night in confortable cabins.

SECOND DAY:

We will get up at the time decided by the guide, and before having breakfast we will visit the surrounding countryside where we will see different types of crops as well as fruit orchards. We will then visit the nearby school, where you can teach the children and share your traveller´s tales with them. We will also visit the hospital in a precarious construction zone. We will return to have breakfast and then continue our walk and visit other anexes and communities, such as the Malata annex (2450m), a place which still retains its colonial characteristics.

In this community we will meet people who speak Quechua, after three hours walking we will arrive at the place where we will make a pausa for three hours, at the Oasis (1230m)

Here we will enjoy a pool of 24 ºC and go for a walk around the surroundings. We will have lunch here and we will spend a relaxing afternoon by the pool and rest in bamboo bungalows.

THIRD DAY:

Around 3:00am the following morning we get up and Stara the climb up the canyon, by torch and startlight (Duch a climb is fiercely hot by day). Those who are feeling very tired have the option of making the ascent by mule. Breakfast of pancakes with jam or scrambled eggs. we will then take our private car for going to the cruz del condor (aprox. 45mins). Here it is usually posible to witness the flight of condors as they rise en the thermals out of the canyon around 9:00am.

We will go until Chivay for lunch, after we will go to the medicinal thermal baths of La Calera 35ºC in which we can relax our musclesin the natural water. Later we will return to Chivay. And have lunch at a time previously coordinated with the group. We will return to the white city of Arequipa, arriving at approximately 17:30pm and so ending our service.
