FIRST DAY:
Passengers will be collected from their respective
hotels at 06:00am to take a private bus to Cabanaconde (3230m) (approximately
5 hours). Upon arriving we will have lunch in a restaurant, before beginning
our descent into the Canyon.
after 5 hours walking we will arrive at the first commnunity of Llahuar, where the River Colca and the River Huaruro meet. Here we can enjoy the thermal baths and match the geysers, we can also fish for trout along the river. We will spend our first night here.
SECOND DAY:
We will get up very early to have breakfast
and continue our walk, today we will visit the ancient town of Llatica (2438m),
and a series of beautiful places. The inhabitants of the canyon collect cochíneal.
We will arrive at the camp in a small village called Fure (2758m), a beautiful
oasis after around 5 hours walking. We will have lunch here and after a short
rest we will head to the beautifull Waterfall of Huaruro (80m high waterfall),
as well as the falls of the River Tocallo. We will return to Fure and spend
our second night in confortable cabins.
THIRD DAY:
Today we will go to the community of Sangalle, after walking for four hours we will arrive at Sangalle. Here we will have lunch and a free afternoon to enjoy a swin in the pool (24ºC) and exploring the surroundings. We will have dinner and spend our third night in confortable cabins.
FOURTH DAY:
Around 03:00am we get up and start the climb
up the Canyon, by torch and starlight ( such a climb is fiercely hot by day).
Those who are feeling very tired have the option of making the ascent by
mule. Breakfast in Cabanaconde and we will take our private bus at 07:00am
to the Cruz del Condor reserve. Here we can observe the fascinating flight
of the Condor as well as the depth of the Canyon. after about a hour we will
go to Chivay, where we can enjoy the natural baths of La Calera´s medicinal
thermal waters of 35º C. We will then have time for lunch and will
afterwards return to the white City, where we will arrive at around 17:30pm.
