QUILCAYHUANCA - COJUP VALLEYS - 4 days

This is a trail that it’s becoming more popular with
the time, due to the beauty of these 2 valleys, surrounded by peaks of 6000
masl, and full of spectacular lagoons such as Palcacocha and Cuchillacocha.
Also, it’s a great challenge to climb to the pass in Choco Peak (5000
masl), where there is an inestimable reward: The views of Ranrapalca (6162
masl) Palcaraju (6110 masl) Tocllaraju (6034 masl) and Ishinca (5530 masl)
Peaks. In Quilcayhuanca Valley you can have a great view of Pucaranra (6156
masl), Chinchey (6222 masl) Tullparaju (5787 masl) and Andavite (5518 masl)
peaks. With a bit of effort the first day, it’s possible to go inside
the Cayesh Valley to observe the steep needle shaped peak: The Cayesh (5721
masl).

Tour description:
DAY 1: HUARAZ - PITEC - QUILCAYHUANCA VALLEY
Early in the morning pick up from your hotel
and 1 hour transfer to Pitec hamlet, start point of the route. The trail
has no difficulties at all, because it’s flat most of the way. After
3 or 4 hours exploring a beautiful valley full of green fields, animals and
with the view of Andavite Peak (5518 masl) arrival to the cross of Quilcayhuanca
and Cayesh Cross, where the campsite is installed. Free afternoon to rest
and walk around the campsite taking pictures of the magnificent landscape
with views or Chinchey and Pucaranra Peaks. Dinner and overnight in campsite.
LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDED.
DAY 2: QUEBRADA QUILCAYHUANCA
This day there are 2 options: Explore Cayesh
Valley to visit its steep needle-shaped peak (approximately 3 hours) or visit
Tulpacocha and Cuchillacocha Lakes (3 approximately) at the feet of Chinchey
(6222 masl) and Pucaranra (6156 masl). BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDED.
DAY 3: QUILCAYHUANCA VALLEY - PALCACOCHA LAKE
Very early in the morning alter a succulent
breakfast, start of the big challenge to cross Pico Choco Pass (5000 masl).
This day, the mules return with the equipment through Quilcayhuanca Valley
to go inside Cojup Valley and install the new campsite. Form the pass, you
can observe Ranrapalca (6162 masl), Palcaraju (6110 masl) and Ishinca (5530
masl). After 4 or 5 hours climbing up a steep slope and going down from the
pass towards Cojup Valley arrival in the campsite near to the Palcacocha
Lake, of which dike broke in 1941, destroying part of Huaraz city. Dinner
and overnight in campsite. BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER INCLUDED.
DAY 4: PALCACOCHA LAKE - HUARAZ
Alter breakfast, you start to go down Cojup
Valley, following the path of the avalanche in 1941. After 4 or 5 hours descending
through this fabulous valley arrival to the exit of the valley, where the
transportation is waiting to take you back to Huaraz city. Arrival approximately
at 4 pm and transfer to your hotel. BREAKFAST AND LUNCH INCLUDED
