The Inca Trail has been famous all over the world for many years.
The reasons are many: The fantastic nature with valleys, snowcapped
mountains and great variety of plants, birds and animals. The amazing
trail itself, with its stairs and tunnels, which is part of a network
of 30.000 km. of trails, going from Mendoza in Argentina to the border
between Ecuador and Colombia. |
 |
|
The archaeological
sites along the inca trail reveal the great knowledge and organizational
skills of the Incas, with the impressive Machu Picchu as a more than
worthy final. |
 |
|
The trek to Lares is a nice alternative to the Inca trail, and
for those who only have a short time in Peru, but still want to
enjoy beautiful landscapes, unique folklore and get to know about
the history of the Incas. |
 |
|
On the way we can enjoy the majestetics Cordillera Vilcanota, and
the beautiful Ausangate mountain getting closer. |
 |
|
One alternative to the classical Inca Trail is this tour Salkantay – Machu
Picchu. The two highlights on this tour, besides the Machu Picchu
complex, are Salkantay Mountain with its 6272 masl. And the other
snowcapped mountain up close and the fact that this hike offers
the special experience to see Machu Picchu on a distance already
one day before arrival on its mountain saddle across the Urubamba
valley. |
 |
|
Hiram Bingham came in 1911 to this place, that he thought of as
a small Inca settlement, but investigations by many since have shown,
that most possible this is what has been referred to as “The
lost city of the Incas”, the last Inca capital, from which
area the last Inca-revolts towards the Spaniards took place in the
late 16th century. |
 |
|
The archaeological site of CHOQUEQUIRAW is part of the complex
system of Andean towns in Vilcabamba Valley. In the time of the Incas,
it was united and in communication with Machu Picchu by a complex
network of trails. |
 |
|
This expeditions will take you to two of the major archaeological
sites in the Cusco-area and Peru: CHOQUEKIRAW and MACHU
PICCHU. The legends and knowledge of the Machu Picchu ruin are
already all over the world. Since its re-discovery of Machu Picchu
by Hiram Bingham in July 1911, the ruin has been a topic of discussions
and research about the Incas. |
