Peru: Puno to host Golden Trout Derby at the Titicaca

(09/24/2010)Local authorities in Puno are organizing the third edition of the fishing tournament called "Golden Trout Derby,” to be held on Sept. 25-26 in Vilurcuni, in order to promote sport fishing in Lake Titicaca and celebrate the World Tourism Day.

The activities program includes visits to the main tourist attractions, including Lake Titicaca, reports Correo.

Contestants are also invited to participate in the Wayna Kusisiwi in festival in Acari, which features native dances, costumes and local gastronomy including native ingredients.

During the day of the competition, participants will try to fish golden trout or Kory Challwa in 90 minutes.

According to the Executive Chairman of the Binational Authority of Lake Titicaca (ALT), Julian Barra, the tournament has attracted sport fishing enthusiasts that eagerly await the completion of the event, reports Andina
