Peru accused Gothenburg city of looting

(08/16/2011)Peru's President Alan Garcia made a move yesterday during a conference interntionell that Peru will begin a tuning process of the City of Gothenburg, where he says that the town is an accomplice to the pillage of a collection of fabrics from Paracskulturen.

Alan Garcia talked about Sweden as a peace loving country, and referred to "our dear friend and martyr Olof Palme".

- This is why it surprises the City of Gothenburg and the museum illegally adds gained 100 stolen fabrics. We have every right to initiate a legal process in Peru, as well as to connect the Interpol to bring those responsible to justice, said Alan García.

Culture Department is responsible Latinamerika.nu the city of Göteborg has had the fabrics in their possession since the 1930s. When the museum three years ago opened the exhibition "A Stolen World" asked Peru to the fabrics to be returned. Cultural Committee in Gothenburg has made a decision on her return in collaboration with the museums, but the question is now on its way to ruling to the City and then the City Council in Gothenburg

- This will really like a bolt from the blue, says Bjorn sand, head of the City of Göteborg's cultural administration. Ever since Peru requested the return textiles, we have had a good dialogue with Peru's former Ambassador Gilbert Chauny. Our aim has been to find an amicable solution between the Peruvian National Museum, Museum of World Culture, which manages the collection, and the City.

Recently returned thousands of cultural objects from the Incas from Yale University in Peru, which has attracted much attention in the Peruvian media, and thousands of people have made a pilgrimage to Cuzco to see the cultural objects.
