Machete Tours is an agency whose primary objective is the conservation and preservation
of one of the most fragile and unique ecologies on the planet. Through the
tours we hope to extend the growing awareness of the importance of conserving
and sustaining this naturally wealthy biosphere and to educate the visitor
on the varieties of flora and fauna and their interrelations and symbiotic
dependencies. At Machete Tours we have, unlike many other agencies, a strict
principle of not interfering or tampering with any of the animals or their
habitats but to respect to their space as they respect ours.
Our guides are Amazonian men who live their enter life in perfect harmony with the jungle and therefore a wide understanding and respect for nature and wildlife, they will teach and demonstrate the many secrets and mysteries of the jungle with ease. Your questions or curiosities will be answered by them as our guides are professional bilingual guides.
The tours are extremely flexible according to what the client wants to get out of his/her trip. They range regular between 4 to 8 days in length, but it can be extended to more days . Our transport service consists of a private overland bus which takes us through the Sacred Valley, over the Andes and into the Cloud and Rain Forests. We travel by comfortable motorised boat along the Alto Madre de Dios and the Madre de Dios Rivers and an optional return flight to Cusco is offered.
All our vehicles are private and specialised for the terrain covered and, therefore, safe as we don't rely on third party. Safety is most important to us and emergency services are always close at hand. We also run SURVIVAL and BIRD-WACHING tours. The areas we cover are the Cultural Zone of the National Park, private areas which are protected by local associations, and the reserve just below the Cultural Zone known as Amarakari Reserve (for eco-tourism practices) This reserve is practically undisturbed by tourism and we offer an exclusive tour on personal trails on which you are guaranteed not to be disturbed by other agencies passing by.
