TREKKING CORDILLERA BLANCA AND CORDILLERA HUAYHUASH

The White Range (Cordillera Blanca) is located in the Peruvian Andes, with its capital Huaraz in Callejón de Huaylas (Huaylas valley), northeast from Lima city and as its name says, it boasts beautiful white peaks, many of them more than 6000 masl, like the highest tropical mountain in the world: The Huascarán (6768 masl). The White Range is the second highest mountain chain of the World, after the Himalayas, but the same in beauty, being one the best destinations in Peru.

Huayhuash is located south of the White Range (Cordillera Blanca), between Huánuco, Ancash, and Lima provinces, and its great attraction are its huge and steep white peaks, its turquoise lagoons and green valleys, situated in a wilder nature with very few number of tourists coming. The trekking to Huayhuaysh Range is considered by international guides and travelers as the second in beauty of the world after the Anapurna Trek in Nepal. Besides, Huayhuash is a suitable place for Andean bird watching, curiously there is more concentration of birds in this area than in Cordillera Blanca. Almost in all Huayhuash lagoons it is possible the rainbow trout fishing. The most known mountains are Yerupaja (6635 masl), the second highest of Peru, Jirishanca (6094 masl) and Siula Peak (6344 masl), scenery of the film and book “Touching the Void” of the English climber Joe Simpson, who lived one of his hardest experience in this mountain. Huayhuash’s main lagoons are Carhuacocha, Siula, Jurau, Sarapococha and the famous Jahuacocha, ideal place for Andean bird watching.

ACCESES:

From Lima: At the moment it do not exist regular flights to Huaraz city. Only regular bus and private transfers are available (8 hour drive in asphalt road).

From Trujillo: Regular bus and private transfer available (8 hours - drive in asphalt road).

From Casma: Only private transfer available (5 hours in not asphalt road).

Huaraz Fottur

LAGUNA 69 - 01 DAg Opplev en spektakulær oppstigning til en av de mest vakre innsjøene i Cordillera Blanca, en intens turkisfarget innsjø ved fotenden av Chacraraju (6112 m.o.h.) og Pisco (5800 m.o.h.). I løpet av turen vil det bli fortalt om Campo Santo, hvor Yungay lå, en by som forsvant på grund av et snøras, som ble utløst av et jordskjælv i 1970.

LAKE 69 - 2 dager / 1 natt Opplev en spektakulær oppstigning til en av de mest vakre innsjøene i Cordillera Blanca, en intens turkisfarget innsjø ved fotenden av Chacraraju (6112 m.o.h.) og Pisco (5800 m.o.h.). QUILCAYHUANCA - COJUP VALLEYS - 4 DAGER / 3 NETTER Denne turen blir mer og mer populær på grunn av de to slående vakre dalene, som er omgitt av majestetiske fjelltinder på 6000 m.o.h. og flotte laguner, som for eksempel Palcacocha og Cuchillacocha. Det er også en god utfordring å klatre til passasjen i Choco Peak (5000 m.o.h.), hvor det venter en uvurderlig belønning.

LLAMAC - CAJATAMBO - 7 DAGER / 6 NETTER Denne turen er kun for dem som ikke ønsker å gå tilbake til Huaraz, men vil fortsette til Lima, fra Cajatambo til Pativilca. På denne vandreturen er det mulig å utforske 60 % av ’Huayhuash full loop’.

HUAYHUASH VUELTA FULL LOOP - 9DAGER / 8 NETTER Dette er den beste muligheten for å besøke Huayhuash fjellkjæden. Turen starter i Quartelwain og ender i Llamac. I tillegg til et besøk ved Jahuacocha og Carhuacocha innsjøene og fjellkjeder, kan man også nyte synet av bl.a. Diablo Mudo, Sacras og Jurau innsjøen, som kan ses fra San Antonio-utsiktspunktet.

ALPAMAYO FULL LOOP - 11 DAGER / 10 NETTER Dette er en fabelaktig rute, som starter i Cedros Valley og ender i Santa Cruz Valley. På turen kan du blandt andet oppleve det berømte fjellet Alpamayo Peak (4947 m.o.h.), som har vunnet en pris for “Verdens vakreste fjell”, turkise laguner, majestetiske fjell, grønne daler og fjellpassasjer med de mest fantastiske utsikter.
